We're ready to introduce you to the X-Carve CNC!
Note that this initial class offering is limited to Fresno Ideaworks Shop Stewards in good standing. Unfilled spaces will be opened to the general membership on Friday, 7 January.
This is an introductory course on how to use the X-Carve 1000mm CNC machine with an emphasis on safety and proper use of the machine. In this class, you will examine the entire work flow of the X-Carve CNC process; learn how to use basic design and editing techniques for creating a carving project: and be familiarized with the necessary requirements to perform a carving job. Finally, students will learn how to setup the machine, how to load and secure materials, and how to set the home position and run a simple job.
This unique class provides information and techniques that differ from those used on other machines at Ideaworks. Certification on other similar machines does not grant permission to use the X-Carve. Participants will learn set up and take down of the X-Carve CNC machine; use of Easel web app used to design projects and control the X-Carve.
Students will design their own projects or use projects from the Easel sample project portfolio. Students must attend both sessions and then complete a minimum of 5 supervised carving projects after the formal class to be certified to use the X-Carve CNC machine without supervision. All materials for initial learning will be provided. Materials for the 5 supervised projects will be provided by the individual.
